About the Capstone
Since Jordan Lake was impounded in 1983, the lake has faced issues of water quality and nutrient management. This research project is the result of a semester-long capstone class for environmental science majors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The client of the study was the Jordan Lake One Water Association (JLOWA), associated with the Triangle J Council of Governments. Over the course of the semester, students worked to catalogue and assess initiatives taking place in North Carolina related to water quality in Jordan Lake.

Products of the study include an inventory of active programs and institutions, a series of maps that convey spatial relationships of these entities, and a report detailing the research process and relevant conclusions.
